This weekend if the weekend that
Corbitt's charge is commermorated so Simian and I went to watch the re-enactors at camp. It was a fun exersion - one of the guys was telling us how there were 6 or 7 Chinese people who fought for the South during the Civil War (or as Simian put it, we're not ALL WASPs you know).
The re-enactors (or Living Historians) really get into their roles. They dress up and take on the character of the person they're supposed to be. There was also a cannon demonstration (with no shot so it wasn't a live round).
The only downside? It was incredibly hot - this has been a sweltering weekend (and our AC isn't working) so we headed home soon.
We also went to Ikea - we wanted to buy a cheap tv trolley, the same one we use downstairs. They don't carry it any longer and Simian joked that he felt dirty buying particle board furniture. Still, the side tables were cheap enough that we got two - Simian will replace them when he's got the bigger projects done.
We spent today hanging up pictures and posters because we had bought a bunch of frames from Michael's yesterday and assembled the Ikea tables (which to my surprise you just sort of screw on the legs!). I also made
this for dinner.
