Food for Thought

M and I went for lunch at Food for Thought at the Botanic Gardens with Baby E and M drove (and drove well too!). The food was a little too salty (though the soup was fine) but the location is nice, the prices were also pretty reasonable and they didn't stinge on the portions. There is also a big playground which Baby E loved - so much in fact that I didn't get a chance to take photos of her enjoying it. She was running up and down :) I think we'll be coming back just for that!

Dinner with Imp and PlanetofSound

Some photos care of Simian.

Simian and I had a long overdue dinner with Imp and PlanetofSound. Between all our travelling, this was the best weekend to meet up, and to give PlanetofSound his overdue birthday present. I baked him a very belated Chocolate Guinness Cake as a birthday cake - I also knew Imp would kind of like to try it :) We went to Real Food for dinner and the food was pretty good. The menu with the dangers of microwaving made me mad though - they offered no proof for any of their assertions (apparently microwaving your food makes you emotionally unstable among other things). I also like how they mentioned that commercial pancake mix has many ingredients which are preservatives (true) and tells you that you should learn to read the label (also true). They then proceed to tell you that their pancake mix has only three ingredients - but they don't tell you what they are.
We went back for cake at Imp and PlanetofSound and watched Being Elmo - Simian and I were surprised to find out that Kevin Clash is a Bmore boy! As always, it was a lovely evening with Imp and PlanetofSound.

Dental Memorabilia

I went to a new dental office the other day (my regular dentist was away) because thanks to Scleroderma, my gums have also been affected. The dental office had a cool display of Memorabilia. I spent a while checking it out!

Maryland

Our last few days in Maryland flew by - the weather got nice and nice as we approached the end of our trip. Obviously :) We stopped by Tractor Supply Company to get Bird seed and had a late dinner at Chipotle (which made Simian ask how difficult it could be to bring something Chipotle-like into Singapore). It was chick season at TSC!

The buds were just coming out on the tree outside our front door - I'm sorry to miss the tree blooming fully in about a week. It'll be full of beautiful white flowers.

Dinner at D's

We went over to D's new amazing house yesterday night. We got to see his new place and also see, Will, HJ, E and their son, E (who is such a big boy now). Unfortunately A was too tired to join us. D ordered Pizza and we all hung out. Simian and I brought beer and ice cream cake from JJ Hoffman's for an early celebration for D's birthday! I realise that all the photos I took actually have people in them - so here's a photo of the beer of choice last now and I just found this great article on Bmore beer online too!

Samos

I love Samos. Every chance I get, I'll eat there. I wonder why Singapore has no Greek places that (1) taste as yummy (2) have such substantial proportions and (3) are as reasonable. Same goes for Tex Mex food. I wish Singaporean restaurants would worry a little less about ambience and more about the food - Samos is a small place in Greektown, clean and comfortable but it isn't fancy. It is however Zagat rated.

Hail

Everyone says that it's been a really warm winter, but of course when we got here, the weather started to fall. As I was typing the previous post, hail started to fall. Now the sun is out again - weird weather!

Dinner at Suntaneye's

Simian and I had dinner at Suntaneye's and her husby's on Monday night. We had a busy day cleaning the house - Simian was busy cleaning mouse poop the whole day. We hope that the mice are gone by now - we haven't seen any mice so we're hoping that they've all gone.

Suntaneye and her husby got us amazing pizza from Al Pacino's pizza. Then Suntaneye and I chatted and Simian and Suntaneye's husby played games on his PS3!

G & M visit

Our friends, G and M, came by with their kids, N and O. We went to Liberatore's for dinner (which closed today at 7 pm - presumably because it was Easter). They were nice enough to let us in anyway and let us order quickly.  M brought these cake pops from New York, made by a neighbour of hers.

Simian worked on his finals all last night and is exhausted now.

Dinner at Woodberry Kitchen

Simian is here! He got in late last night. We had dinner with our neighbour, L, at Woodberry Kitchen. I had a lovely apple cocktail. Simian and I shared main courses - we had Farro and Gnocchi. We shared Butter Bean Dip and a lovely fried Ricotta with jam. We shared a chocolate malt ice cream with chocolate fudge and marshmellow cream which was caramelised on top.

Garden in spring

Lovely weather today - I went out and took some photos of the yard. I also took a photo of the Nutella & Go I bought yesterday. Brilliant idea!
Not so brilliant is the fact that I think the mouse is still in the house. I found two pellets that I don't think were there yesterday on the kitchen counter. All our food is either in the fridge or the cupboards. Also all the ants seem to have come into the house for some reason. Ugh.

Birds

I've been too tired to write since I got back to Maryland. First, I found out that there was mouse poop on the counter (and in the basement) and was upset about that. Then, the water pressure gave out (and was fortunately fixed the same afternoon). By the time, I was done cleaning, I was exhausted. I spent all of yesterday either asleep or just lounging around. Thank goodness Suntaneye and her husby not only picked me up from the airport but also bought me TONS of food from Holy Frijoles. This meant I didn't need to go out to even get food!

I did go downtown today to meet Will and A and we went to Freshii (first time I've been there and the food was good) for lunch with V and G. I went back to their home after, got to see all the work they've done on the house AND play with the birds. Arnold even sat on my head!

Then I got to try my new Vibram Seeyas. I've been drooling after these shoes so long, that Simian has been laughing at me. I got a good deal too with my discount and rebate. At first, I left the strap too loose, and then I think I tightened it a little too much. I tend to get blisters when I first break in VFFs anyway so I'm hoping they will go away. Still, so far I love them - I went for a short run to acclimatise and to break in the shoes.
