Dinner for Dad

We had a party for Dad at Chilli Padi on Wednesday night to celebrate his birthday. All his siblings, and a few of my cousins came, as did several of his friends. I made a carrot cake without the topping because Dad likes it better that way.

Presents!

A huge box came from goiriego with tons of presents. I think she's pretty much given me presents for the next ten years! A gorgeous pie dish with shield, and cut outs, a very pretty serving platter, a dog food carrier and a crank torch shaped like a kitty. While I loved ALL of it, I immediately played with the torch and shone it at Simone, who decided she should stay far away from the crazy cranking lady,. It is a disease sadly. When Simian and I first went to Home Depot and I saw the row of torches, he had to physically drag me away.

Thank you goiriego. So sweet of you :)))

Birthday!

It was lovely to get emails, texts, FB messages and personal birthday wishes on my birthday! I got two deliveries of flowers from E & M and my friend, K :))) I also made a ginger carrot cake with an orange cream cheese topping.

Simian also got me a tablet and took me to the Factory for my birthday. We literally came back almost exploding from carb overload but that goreng pisang sundae was fantastic :))

Putu Piring

A friend took Mom and I to try putu piring. She said it was like kueh tu tu but with gula melaka instead of peanut. I love peanut but gula melaka - enough said, I was sold! We went to the coffee shop and the putu piring was good. It looked coarse but melted in your mouth. Also, I learnt you can have teh halia tarik. That just blew my mind.

Cards against Humanity and Tea!

Imp and PlanetofSound stopped by today for tea and we got to break out the Cards Against Humanity. It was hilariously fun - Imp beat us all soundly!

Imp also demonstrated how she prepares her tea. It was lovely to see her as she was so calm and focused while steeping and pouring the tea. She made the whole pouring almost into a ceremony. Being a Pleb however, I can't tell you much about the tea. It tasted a little different from the type in the Chinese restaurants, but not so much that I'd be able to tell the difference if it hadn't been pointed out to me!

More presents!!

Thank you USPS for routing our present through Thailand. Apparently it is a new thing now that USPS thinks Singapore is in Thailand, event though it says Republic of Singapore. At least it's closer to China I guess! We're almost in the same geographical region. The exact same thing happened to Suntaneye's sister's parcel which also disappeared and did a detour through Thailand before arriving in Singapore yesterday. We got these lovely presents from all of the world. K sent us the Power German book from Germany (which I am already working my way through), K sent us the hummingbird magnets from Sweden, A&W sent us Cards against Humanity, which I have been meaning to get forever and JH also from the US sent us "The Emperor of all Maladies" which Simian says he will read this weekend. M and E also sent me a card from NC! E decorated it :)) Posted by Picasa
